Background:
The Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (KA171) enables participating universities to engage in academic exchange with non-European universities in partner countries worldwide. To strengthen international competencies and personal development, the program places particular emphasis on the exchange of individual students, staff, and faculty (incoming and outgoing). In this way, KA171 supports European universities in enhancing their appeal as centers of scholarship, contributes to the development of global networks, and promotes the internationalization of participating universities both in Europe and in partner countries.
General information on KA 171 can be found on the NA DAAD website (German only).
Erasmus+ KA171 at JGU:
Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) has been participating in the Erasmus+ KA171 funding program since summer 2025 (call 2025). The current project runs until July 2028.
Within KA171, we can facilitate a limited number of student and staff mobilities between specific departments and designated institutions in the following countries:
- Region 3 (Southern Mediterranean countries): Egypt,
- Region 5 (Asia): India, Indonesia, Japan
- Region 10 (Latin America): Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia.
An overview of all partnerships under KA171 can be found in our partnership database (please enter “Erasmus+ KA 171” in the full text search).
The participating departments are responsible for selecting the participants. The application process may vary depending on the type of mobility, as may the academic requirements.
General information on the project implementation under KA 171, including funding rates and possible top ups, can be found on the DAAD National Agency’s website (German only).
